Career Counselling

Overview

An invaluable service for many Tanner Menzies clients is the Career Counselling Programme we offer through our sister organisation, Jarrah Consulting.  This programme was devised to assist and advise staff who are facing a change in employment due to organisational restructure.

The Career Counselling Programme ensures that our clients provide a professional, conciliatory and proactive methodology by which exiting employees can readjust. Internal and external perceptions of our client's endeavours are viewed as caring, understanding and effective. Importantly, the outgoing employee leaves with a positive attitude and in the best possible position to move on with their career. Career Counselling programmes are customised to meet particular requirements and can range in duration from one day to delivery over a sixteen week period and may comprise Outplacement, Career Transition and Career Management Programmes.

Outplacement/Career Transition Programmes

In these changing economic times, employees can face issues such as job loss and redundancy for a number of reasons. We provide Outplacement/Career Transition Programmes to help those who are losing or who have lost employment get back into the workforce quickly and effectively.

We aim to motivate people to investigate new careers and to give them ideas about realistic options. We help individuals maximise the success of their job searches by identifying their transferable skills & abilities that can be applied to other areas.

Our experience and knowledge are instrumental in helping individuals move into new jobs or careers. Our services typically include:

  • Group or individual counselling sessions.
  • Helping individuals and the people around them work through the trauma, emotional stress and various concerns related to job loss.
  • Assisting individuals through the self-exploration and career exploration stages.
  • Providing strategies to write resumes and networking letters that have impact.
  • Expert training on interviewing techniques.
  • Helping individuals organise and implement an active job search plan. Monitoring and supporting individuals on a weekly basis to ensure they carry out their job search process successfully. Providing job leads and contacts to clients.
  • Administering and interpreting aptitude tests and assessment tools.

Our Outplacement/Career Transition experts can be on hand at the time of the announcement to staff to defuse any hostility or tension and lend support. Within 24 to 48 hours a further meeting is organised in our offices to explain the Programme. Working closely with each employee, we offer a wide range of results-oriented services designed to ease their move into a new job or career.

We help individuals develop and implement a logical, action-based strategy that puts discipline and structure into their search while yielding the best results in the shortest period of time.

Throughout our Programmes, individuals work with a Career Transition Manual that includes job targeting methods, ways to take advantage of the hidden job market, as well as sample resumes and letters to guide employees in designing their own successful career transition Programmes.

We also offer career assessment and testing to help individuals better understand their strengths, weaknesses and best potential for career growth and effectiveness.

We offer a number of different Career Transition Programmes to meet your needs.
